There is also a small 4 - stall barn with wash stall and office/tack room on site. Each of these stalls have runs off of them and can be turned into Mare/Foal stalls easily. |

The property is fenced and crossed fenced in Cedar and electric fencing to offer a safe and secure surrounding. Several of the paddocks have loafing sheds to offer shelter from wind and rain. Most paddocks have trees for additional protection from the enviornment as well.
20 acres of land are at the disposal of the client. A pond and small
trails are located on the property and miles of other trails begin
from the edge of the property. A casual trail ride leaves the
property on Sunday mornings at 10:00 for anyone wishing to drop in
and participate.

Willow Pond Stables resident trainer
Sarah Champoux has over 30 years of equine experience and is CHA
level 4 certified. Sarah started working with horses when she took
her first riding lesson at the age of 7. Timothy Tigo, Sarah’s first
pony, took Sarah to many hunter/jumper championships up and down the
island as well as the PNE in Vancouver. Sarah was enrolled in the
Cowichan Valley 4-H club for about 4 years and learned many skills
through the club. Timothy Tigo was sold in 1984 and went through
several owners until he was re-united with Willow Pond Stables in
2003. He is currently here in semi-retirement, helping the odd young
child to learn to ride. Timmy’s passion is the trails and is seen on
them by many of the local riders.
In 1991, Sarah moved to the Qualicum area and worked with some local
trainers as a working student. Sarah competed at many Vancouver and
Washington State “A” circuit shows as well as Edmonton’s Northland’s
and Spruce Meadows.
In 1997, Sarah worked with Barbie Wentworth, one of only a few Level
4 hunter/jumper coaches in Canada. Sarah purchased several young
horses and was able to train and show them very successfully. Most
of these horses found new homes in The States. |

In 2000, Sarah began training in Seattle
with a well-known American Jumper coach, Jill Crosby. Jill helped
Sarah reach the highest Amateur jumper division and enjoyed several
extremely successful showing years. Sarah competed at many "A"
circuit shows on the Washington, Oregon, California & Arizona
circuits. In the year of 2000, Sarah was Champion or Reserve
Champion at every single show entered, and was also top leading
amateur jumper rider at the Evergreen Classic Horse Show held in
Washington. Another highlight of the season was winning a high jump
class for the highest cleared jump at 5’3”.
In 2002, Sarah moved back to Qualicum Beach and began helping a few
people with training and coaching. In 2004, Willow Pond Stables was
formed and Sarah began teaching and training full time. Sarah has
100% dedication to her students and horses and loves to witness the
improvement of both.
Sarah has a diploma in Business Management with finance major, as
well as 2 years of university towards a Bachelor of Art’s degree.
She is currently certified with the NCCP level 1 (national certified
coaching program) and has St. John’s ambulance first aid level 1. |
